APRS Service

Having fun with packet radio!

The W8DNR APRS project is specifically tailored for local amateur radio communications, aimed at enhancing special events and club activities. This system integrates a Python-based APRS bot, a frontend webpage for real-time local monitoring, and a database to ensure efficient data management.

The core functionality of our APRS service involves monitoring APRS messages via a KISS TCP Direwolf socket, targeted to our club callsign.

This local focus allows for immediate and reliable two-way communication without the reliance on APRS-IS, making it ideal for on-site event coordination and club interactions.

The bot will be capable of recognizing predefined commands in the messages, executing specific actions based on these commands, and using APRS acknowledgments to confirm the completion of these interactions. For example a check-in feature that will log interactions to QRZ.

The project is still under development but hope to share more details and command usage soon.

We hope to see your packets soon!
